On Monday, October 15, 2018 an interesting online discussion about the importance of contemporary art for the development of the society was held in the building of the Municipality of Vračar. Moderator of the panel was Jelena Spasović and participants were Nikola Kolja Božović, professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts, Danijela Maljević, President of the CSO BUM and Mihailo Grupković, President of the Municipal Assembly of Vračar.

During the debate, participants tried to answer some of the most important issues concerning the development of contemporary art. Some of these questions were: Is art capable of transforming society, Are the artists super heroes of our days, or just unhappy outsiders, Is the new media making it easier for us to understand contemporary art, How can local self-government be a link between audience and creators?

The Vračar Culture Week was organized by the Municipality of Vračar in cooperation with the CSO BUM and the Center for Education and Culture “Božidarac 1947 – Belgrade” with the aim of promoting contemporary art among the citizens and raising awareness about the importance of culture and art for the development of the local community. The exhibition of sculptures and drawings by artists Iva Atoski and Boža Terzić was also opened within the framework of the Vračar Culture Week. A forum theater performance “Crossroads” for secondary school students from the Municipality of Vračar was also realized. Through the realization of the Culture Week, the Municipality of Vračar seeks to improve the cultural and social life of citizens living in this municipality and to create the conditions for a better day-to-day life for the citizens of all generations.
