This project is a result of the continuous initiative of BUM and CAS towards empowerment of camping tourism as an opportunity for sustainable development of small communities with very well preserved nature that are attractive to many tourists, especially to those who live in urban areas and long for a vacation away from the city noise, traffic and crowd.

The project has been realized in cooperation with two organizations from the Netherlands, AMECO and STIDIT, and through a partnership with the Camping organization of Serbia and Fruska Gora National Park.

It has been composed of three modules:

1. Creating of the National Park Management Plan and the Plan of Visitors Management [REALIZED]

2. Program of small grants for realization of NGO activities on the territory of Fruska Gora [REALIZED]

3. Establishing the first eco camp in Serbia within the protected area [ONGOING]

There are ongoing activities on realization of particular small projects, local NGOs in order to improve the protection of the NP Fruska Gora, as well as the activities on creating technical conditions for building of the first eco camp on the territory of the old nursery garden near the hiking area Strazilovo in the Municipality of Sremski Karlovci.

Members of the Project Team have met at the beginning of August with the representatives and leaders of the sectors within the NPFG.

Subject of this meeting mostly regarded previous activities during the first year of the project, but also the plans for the future activities during the second year of the project.

1. Evaluation of the first year of the project: results;

2. NPFG – the opinion of the Management on future policy of the Park and the implementation policy (Subject of the discussion: the Management Plan);

3. NPFG – the opinion of the Management on relations between NPFG and interested parties in the Park from Vojvodina and other: Plan of Visitors Management and incomes issues;

4. NPFG – the opinion of the Management on the issue of biodiversity protection;

5. Eco camp establishment: planning, roles of the participants;

6. The role of the international cooperation / MATRA project and its role in the future activities;

7. EU integration of Serbia: new opportunities;

8. Meeting summary: new activities in the second year of the project – what will be done, who will be responsible for which activities and when (forming of the task forces for particular sections).
